Pfc. Kenneth E. Bowland, 18, son of Mrs. Dora Bowland, 3023 Rincon Street, was killed in action on Okinawa June 11  while serving with the Sixth Marine Division, his mother was informed yesterday by the Navy Department.
Bowland, who was graduated from Rockport High School in 1943 and joined the Marines the same month, was overseas 18 months. He served with the Marine Raiders, fighting in the battles for the Marshall Islands, Saipan and Guam.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Dora Bowland, a sister, Pauline; two brothers, Paul and William Boyd, and his grandmother, Mrs. Ben Earp of Bayside.
