John Thomas Colletti, retired Army captain, died February 25, 2014 at his daughter’s home in Calabash, NC. He was 90. Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1923, Capt. Colletti served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps, first with the 4th Raider Battalion, then later with the 6th Amphibian Tractor Battalion in the landings on Peleliu and Okinawa during World War II. In 1948, he joined the United States Army, where he was commissioned as an officer, and retired after 14 years of service. Capt. Colletti is survived by his wife of 72 years, Amelia Colletti of Calabash, NC; two daughters, Lorene Pacella of Calabash, NC, and Christine Faught of Apex, NC; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In accordance with his wishes, there will be no services.
