MELBOURNE — William J. Garland, 75, a retiree, died Tuesday, December 5, 2000, at home. Mr. Garland was born in Sedalia, Mo. He came to Brevard County in 1967 from St. Louis, Mo. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in World War II and received a Purple Heart and a Good Conduct Medal. “To our Father, You were our Hero!” Mr. Garland worked for McDonnell Douglas as a personnel administrator and then later as a Manager for Eckerd Drugs. He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church in Titusville. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Doris Garland of Melbourne; sons, William R. Garland and John C. Garland, both of Indialantic; daughters, Linda Guenther and Nancy Stickels, both of Orlando, Molly Bulko of Ormond Beach and Sarah Wilgus of Melbourne; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, at Florida Memorial Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Hospice of Health First, 1900 Dairy Road, West Melbourne, FL 32904.
