Chester LeRoy Hammond, 34, of Willow Creek, died in a Eureka hospital early Friday morning [May 13, 1955]. He was born in Winter, Wisconsin, and had lived in Willow Creek for the past three months. Mr. Hammond was a veteran of World War 2, a member of the Moose Lodge, Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion. He was an Engineering Aide for the Bureau of Public Roads.
He is survived by his wife, Alma; brothers, Lloyd of Pollock Pines, Calif., Guy of New York, and Daniel H. of Korea; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Hansen and Mrs. Imogene Walter, both of Dolton, Illinois. He is also survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Hammond, Dolton, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Pierce Mortuary. The remains will be shipped to Dolton, Illinois, where interment will take place Friday afternoon.
