Allen G. Haskell of Bardonia, NY died on August 21, 2001. He was born in Augusta, Maine on July 5, 1920 to Chester and Inez Haskell, and married his wife of 53 1/2 years Margaret Furlong in St. Joseph’s Church in Gardiner, Maine in 1947. He is survived by his wife Margaret, his son, Allan J. Haskell and his daughter Margaret Garroway, as well as 3 grandchildren, Michael, Sean, and Daniel. Allen was a Marine Platoon Sgt. during WWII and was wounded in action in the Pacific Theater of operations and awarded the Purple Heart. He received his B.S. degree from Boston University and did graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh as well as Dartmouth College. He was a district credit manager for U.S. Steel Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 1986. The family will receive friends on Friday from 9 to 11 AM at the Higgins Funeral Service in New City, with Roman Catholic Prayer Service at 11:00 a.m. with Marine military honors to follow. Burial will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
