Earl (Irish) Hivish, 57, of 4 Charles Dr., Absecon Highlands, died Tuesday [July 18, 1978] in the Atlantic City Medical Center, Mainland Division following a long illness.
Services will be held at 9:15 a.m., Saturday, at the Parsels Funeral Home, Absecon, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Church of the Assumption, Pomona. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing. A viewing will be held Friday, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Born in Sugar Notch, Pa., Mr. Hivish had been an Atlantic County resident 16 years. He was Dockmaster for the Boston Lightship at Gardner’s Basin, Atlantic City.
A World War II Marine Corps veteran, he was a charter member of the Cape-Atlantic Marine Corps League, of which he was a quartermaster. He was a member of the Absecon VFW and American Legion Posts and former member of the Bartenders Union.
Surviving are his wife, Grace T.; two step-daughters, Carol L. Winterbottom of Mays Landing and Marcia H. Keefer of Pleasantville, and four grandchildren.
