The funeral of Walter Paczkoski, Jr. [July 21, 1948], twice-wounded veteran of World War 2, will take place Monday morning at 9 from the family home, 190 East Main Street. Glen Lyon. Interment will be In St Adalbert’s Cemetery, where members of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars Posts of Glen Lyon will conduct military services.

The young man had an excellent record in the war. Volunteering for service, he became a member of the Marine Raiders and took part in the invasions of Bougainville, Saipan and Guam.

He was wounded at Bougainville and Saipan, later contracted malaria, for which he was hospitalized several months, and also suffered shell shock. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal and a disability pension.
