LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – Robert Warren “Rube” Tarrant, Sr., age 76 of Las Vegas, Nevada, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999 in Stoughton. He was born June 1, 1922 in Beloit, Wisconsin, the son of Lyle Henry and Elizabeth Fox Tarrant. He graduated from Beloit High School, Class of 1940. Rube married Virginia J. Tamulis on July 9, 1949 in Beloit. He was a combat veteran of World War II in the U.S. Marine Corps, and was awarded three Purple Hearts for action in the South Pacific. Rube was employed by Evco Plastics in De Forest for 12 years, retiring as General Sales Manager in 1985. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Pardeeville, the Disabled American Veterans, the 6th Marine Division Association, the Marine Raider Association, and past Commander of American Legion Post #215 in Pardeeville. Rube was very active in basketball, playing for Beloit High School, the Fairbanks Morse Fairies, and the House of David Teams. He was an avid golfer, even earning a “Hole in One.” He very much enjoyed spending the last years of his life living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Survivors include his wife, Virginia of Las Vegas, Nevada; four sons, Robert (Marcia) Tarrant Jr. of Stoughton, Thomas Tarrant of Las Vegas, Nevada, David (Mary Ann) Tarrant of Gilbert, Arizona, and Philip (Kathy) Tarrant of Pine Mountain, California; seven grandchildren, Angela, Toby, Benjamin, Derek, Cory, Alanna, and Kelsey; four great-grandchildren, Devin, Brendon, Morgan, and Ariel; stepmother Rose Tarrant, of Beloit; half-sister, Sheila (Frank) Shafer of Norco, California; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Lyle; and his mother, Elizabeth; a brother, Willard Tarrant; and half-sister, Mary Wacha. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9, 1999 in the Daley-Murphy-Wisch & Associates Funeral Home, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, with the Reverend Thomas R. Warner officiating. Burial will be in Turtleville Cemetery, Turtle Township, Wisconsin. Friends may call from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 11, 1999 at the funeral home.
