Howard Taft Willie, of Longview, age 72, died November 15, 1989 of a heart attack at his home. Services held in Centre Presbyterian Church at Elderville. Burial in Elderville Cemetery. Revs. Joe Palacek and Burle Mattingly officiated. Welch Funeral Home of Longview in charge of arrangements.
He was born about 1917 the son of Emil & Mary Olie Willie of San Gabriel where he graduated. He owned Little Willie’s Newstand in Longview before joining the Marines in WW II. Recuperated several months in Camp Pendleton, and Riverside, CA. He worked at Longview Post Office as superintending engineer for 28 years, retiring in 1974. Preceded in death by brothers, Charlie Willie of Houston and Albert Willie of Brenham.
Survivors: Wife, Maxine Willie; 2 daughters, Dorothy Faye Johnagin and Nancy Jewel Atkinson; 4 sisters, Ruby Arledge of Cameron, Mary Bartlett of Garland, Lorene Green of Longview, Lou Jean Owen of Ft. Worth; brother, E.M. Willie of Cameron; 3 grandchildren of Longview.
