Elmer Henry Benjamin Zellmer, 85, of Belleville IL, born October 19, 1923, in Belleville, IL, died Saturday, October 10, 2009, at Rosewood Care Center, Swansea, IL.
Mr. Zellmer was a retired sheet metal worker for Sheet Metal Workers Local 268. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Retirees Club and Belleville-Swansea Moose Lodge 1221. Elmer was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Ellanora, nee Deppe, Zellmer; and four brothers, Russell, Will, Ed, and Emil Zellmer.
Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Rosemary, nee Buchholz, Zellmer, whom he married May 7, 1949, at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Belleville, IL; two daughters, Sandra (Earl) Mehrtens of Millstadt, IL, and Sue Paulat of Belleville, IL; four sons, John (Linda) Zellmer of Elsberry, MO, Alan (Mandy) Zellmer of Nashville, IN, Kirk (Donna) Zellmer of Rogersville, MO, and Jeff (Robyn) Zellmer of Belleville, IL; eleven grandchildren, Bryan (Lori) Mehrtens, Michele Mehrtens, Leslie (Coby) Boyd, Doug (Jill ) Zellmer, Jason (Heather) Zellmer, Andrea Paulat, and Nicholas, Alexander, Anne, Catherine, and Zachary Zellmer; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Howard (Harlene) Zellmer of Kingman, AZ; two sisters, Ruth Kraft of Shiloh, IL, and Alice (Mike) Coon of Belleville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2009, and from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Funeral: Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL.
Cremation services will follow.
